Chris studied Artificial Intelligence when it was a niche pursuit and spent the first part of his career being viewed as a crackpot when mentioning AI! After a few years developing some of the most complex automated systems on the planet, Chris has circled back to his first love of AI and autonomy. These days, he’s often found creating illegible scribbles of ideas.

Originally trained as a physicist, Thom’s interest in cameras and imagery developed into a career in electro-optics, IMINT, biometrics, computer vision, and finally into AI/ML and autonomy (with a fair few branches on the way). Thom finds joy in trying new and unexpected ways to use technology; they sometimes work but are always interesting.

Tom is motivated by getting emerging technologies into the hands of operational users across Defence and Security. Tom spent 14 years in the British Army, before retraining as a data scientist. He has a particular passion for innovating in autonomy, trust, and explainability. Whilst serving, Tom established the Expeditionary Robotics Centre of Expertise (ERCoE) and was heavily involved in defining RAS policy, strategy, and experimentation. Tom is also a PhD researcher in autonomous systems control focusing on building trustworthy and interpretable autonomy. Tom brings a unique perspective integrating technical understanding, user need and operational realities.

John originally trained as a computer scientist before diving deep into the world of machine learning through a PhD focused on autonomous object recognition for robots. With broad interests spanning computer vision, time-series analysis, and multi-modal fusion, John is always exploring new ways to push the boundaries of AI. He thrives on tackling complex challenges across diverse domains, bringing together theory and application to create innovative solutions.

Originally trained in cyber security, Jack developed a broad technical skill set across systems architecture, software development, and network analysis. Now, as a Senior Data Scientist, he applies this diverse background to solving complex artificial intelligence problems. With a focus on innovative and novel technical approaches, Jack is passionate about leveraging unconventional methods to push the boundaries of AI. His unique blend of experience allows him to think outside the box, integrating cutting-edge techniques from multiple disciplines to craft creative solutions to modern challenges. Above all, Jack is committed to making AI safer, ensuring that these advanced systems are both intelligent and secure for the future.
